Improving reliability of automatic incident detection with multi-sensor technology
Abstract
OPAX presents the worlds first real-time Automatic Incident Detection (AID) solution that integrates video and radar sensors in a single platform. The system is used to improve tunnel safety and by using a multi-sensor approach to AID, the solution addresses the inherent weaknesses of single-sensor systems.
The solution offers weather-independent radar detection in tunnel entrances and exits, combined with state-of-the-art video and image processing inside the tunnels. While Working independently, the video and radar sensors consistently classify objects, offering improved reliability through sensor redundancy, higher precision and lower false alarm rates.
The flexible and cost effective client-server architecture uses standards-based, interoperable components and is easily integrated with existing infrastructure, further improving reliability through redundancy and the ability to physically protect analytics units.
